First the Select Board responds to a Town transfer station question.
Then a Bethlehem Trustee of the Trust funds, describes illegal asbestos dumping over the decades throughout Casella Waste Systems’ North Country Environmental Services dump.
Documents prove that 350 truckloads of asbestos contaminated construction and demolition debris were accepted at for three years beginning in 1999 and spread over the main part of Casella’s NCES landfill. Asbestos was also accepted by Casella until the mid 1990′s and buried at unknown locations.
Now Casella wants to dig the asbestos back up, which goes against the 18 votes by Bethlehem to not expand the NCES landfill, in an effort to burry an additional 1,000,000 tons of waste on top of the 3,500,000 tons that are already there. Filmed July 7, 2008.
